Data from a network can be available in real time. It has have facility to transmit data via GSM and GPRS network to ensure data transfer in real time without any delay in case of network congestion. The DTU can automatically send message containing packet data to the server at configured time interval. Two way communications is possible in DTU. In case failure in data transmission, the DTU can switch over to BURSTY MODE to transmit the data as per the request from the server. The packet data from the DTU can be transmitted in ASCII format to the server. It supports both UDP and TCP protocols along with HTTP as well. Download over the Air (DOTA) can be done to avoid travelling to site for configuring the DTU. The DOTA is enabled in all DTU and it can be done either via SMS or over FTP.

FEATURES OF DTU – YDTU247

GSM and GPRS facility with fast and reliable wireless data communications can be provided using YDTU247. Remote dial-up facility is provided in DTU247. It supports voice, data and SMS. The core GSM/GPRS Module (Q2687RD Embedded Module) is from sierra wireless (previous name was wavecom) and supports Quad Band GSM transmission. It accepts standard SIM card with built-in-holder. The DTU can be configured by connecting a RS232 and USB cable to a local pc. However, Ethernet interface with other devices or local pc or data logger is not available currently. But the existing circuit design can be extended to add Ethernet facility. It has facility for static IP and domain transfer of data through GPRS as well. The YDTU247 is compatible with standard GSM/GPRS network existing in India. The YDTU247 can work in extreme conditions such as fog, thunderstorm and rainfall. The other feature is to measure the signal strength available nearby.
